“In Manila, everyone is welcome, regardless of religion,” Domagoso said in his message to attendees.
The mayor said the city government continues to recognize and value the history and culture of the Muslim community in Manila, especially during significant religious observances such as Eid’l Adha.
Foreign dignitaries and community leaders also attended the event, including Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Dato' Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino and Thailand Ambassador Makawadee Sumitmor.
Domagoso thanked the guests and members of the Muslim community for joining the celebration, which highlights both religious tradition and the growing halal industry.
He also cited previous efforts of the city government to support the Muslim community, including the establishment of an Islamic cemetery during his first term to provide a proper burial site for Muslim residents.
The mayor added that the city government supports the continued development of the halal industry, which has been gaining attention as a potential area for economic growth.
“In our own little way, we will make you feel that this is your home,” Domagoso said.
He reiterated that Manila aims to remain inclusive, emphasizing respect and understanding among different faiths in the city.
