- Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said posting bail is a legal remedy available to him under the country's justice system: "and I intend to avail myself of every lawful means to defend myself and clear my name."
Senator Jinggoy Estrada said on Friday, May 29, he will be posting bail as it is a legal remedy that is available to him now.
Estrada made the statement before going to the Sandiganbayan to post bail over his graft case which is in connection to his involvement in the alleged anomalous flood control projects.
“I am personally posting bail before the Sandiganbayan in relation to the arrest warrant issued by its Second Division,” Estrada said in a statement.
“Posting bail is a legal remedy available to me under our justice system, and I intend to avail myself of every lawful means to defend myself and clear my name,” he stressed.
At the same time, Estrada again denied the allegations against him saying these are baseless and without any shred of truth.
“I respect the rule of law and our judicial institutions, and this is precisely why I am posting bail and personally submitting myself to the jurisdiction of the Sandiganbayan,” he said.
“Umaasa ako sa patas na pagtrato, due process, at pagiging walang kinikilingan sa pagdinig ng kasong ito. Nagtitiwala ako na sa huli, mananaig ang hustisya at ang katotohanan (I hope for fair treatment, due process, and impartiality in the hearing of this case. I trust that in the end, justice and truth will prevail),” he stressed.
