2 elderly women killed, 7 injured in Ilocos Norte road crash

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte – Two elderly women were killed and seven others were injured in an accident in Barangay Caunayan here on Thursday afternoon, May 28.
Police Lt. Joemar Hernandez, deputy chief of the Pagudpud Municipal Police Station, said the accident occurred at around 5 p.m.
The victims, all residents of Cauayan City, Isabela, were missionaries from the Church of Our Lady of Piat.
They were on their way to the Paoay Church in this province on board a white Toyota Innova for a pilgrimage when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
Passengers sustained injuries and two victims aged 60 and 63 were declared dead in a hospital.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
