Teenage boy hit by bottle in the back of head in wake dies

BACOLOD CITY – A 13-year-old boy who was about to celebrate his birth anniversary died after he was hit by an empty liquor bottle by a 29-year-old man during a wake in Barangay Paitan, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Investigation showed that the victim was sitting on a chair on Tuesday, May 26, when the suspect Toto arrived drunk.

The suspect offered the victim a drink but he refused. The suspect was irked and hit the victim with a bottle in the back of his head.

A barangay official reported the incident to the police.

The victim suffered vomiting and taken to a hospital where he passed away on Wednesday morning, May 27.

The incident was reported by the victim’s mother to the police Wednesday.

Police arrested the suspect Wednesday in Barangay Jonob-Jonob, Escalante City. The suspect tried to escape but was collared by the police.

Homicide charges are being readied against the suspect. The victim, a Grade 7 student, was set to celebrate his birthday next month.
