Singapore firm ofi partners with local supplier for Bulacan food facility
Singapore-headquartered olam food ingredients (ofi) has formed a joint venture (JV) with WNC Capital Holdings Inc., the parent firm of local food supplier Wills International Sales Corp., to expand its presence in the Philippines through a manufacturing facility in Bulacan province.
In a statement on Thursday, May 28, ofi said the JV firm will be known as ofi Philippines Blends, marking its first direct operational presence in the country.
“With ofi’s global footprint, customer-centric innovation, and product solution expertise, combined with WNC Capital Holdings’ established customer relationships and nationwide reach, ofi Philippines Blends aims to be the partner of choice for Philippine brands,” the company said.
ofi Philippines Blends is set to begin operations in the fourth quarter through the opening of its Bulacan facility.
Once operational, the facility is expected to meet the rising demand from local brands in need of greater customization and innovation through expanded seasoning and flavor development capabilities.
ofi Philippines Blends will produce food solutions such as seasonings, marinades, dry mixes, and related applications that “balance cultural authenticity, healthier indulgence, and commercial realities.”
ofi, which currently operates in 50 countries, said the JV is envisioned to support the operations of local food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers amid increased competition, shorter product cycles, and heightened expectations for flavor relevance.
This will enable F&B brands to create products at a faster pace, with a stronger emphasis on local taste profiles, thereby reducing reliance on imported solutions, the company said.
ofi F&B solutions head of Asia Pacific Ramki Prasad said this also places the company in a strong position to help clients move from concept to commercialization efficiently while maintaining consistency at all times.
“The Philippines is one of the most dynamic food markets in Southeast Asia. Being closer to customers with enhanced capabilities strengthens our ability to collaborate, shorten development cycles, and execute with confidence,” he added.
For his part, WNC Capital Holdings president William Chuacokiong said the partnership with ofi will help food manufacturers not only grow locally but, more importantly, compete with the world’s best brands.
“Global interest in Filipino flavors continues to rise. This partnership places the right capabilities in-market to help brands meet international expectations while preserving what makes their products distinctive,” he said.
ofi Philippines Blends aims to connect local clients to ofi’s wider footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, enabling manufacturers to draw on regional expertise and ingredient access “while remaining grounded in the needs of the Philippine market.” - Dexter Barro II
