A motorcycle rider died after colliding with a pickup truck along a curved portion of Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City early Tuesday morning, May 26.
Based on initial findings of the Antipolo City Police Station, the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. in front of Greenland Subdivision, Barangay Dela Paz.
CCTV footage showed both vehicles traveling in opposite directions when the motorcycle slipped on the curve, crossed into the opposite lane, and hit the left rear portion of the pickup truck.
The rider was rushed to Rizal Provincial Hospital System Annex II but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities identified the pickup as a Toyota Hilux driven by a 50-year-old man from Taytay, Rizal, while the motorcycle was a Honda unit driven by a 21-year-old service crew from Antipolo City.
Both vehicles sustained damage and were taken into police custody for documentation and examination.
Police said the incident is being treated as a case of homicide and damage to property pending further investigation and CCTV review.
Police said the case remains under investigation and may still be subject to possible amicable settlement between the parties involved.
