Portraying Aemie Romero and Zeke Roswell in the live adaptation of the hit Wattpad series "My Husband Is a Mafia Boss," Rhen Escaño and Joseph Marco have captivated fans with their undeniable on-screen chemistry.

In the course of shooting the series, Rhen and Joseph built not only friendship but also trust, ultimately establishing a unique connection as they continue working together as a team.

"Kapag kasi invested ka sa mga bagay-bagay, of course, sobrang naging close po kami and comfy with each other. Naging safe space namin yung isa't-isa. Hindi talaga maiiwasan yun pero at the end of the day we just want to give our best for the audience," Rhen said during the mid-season press conference held in Boteyju-Estancia.

Admitting to sharing a mutual admiration, Joseph shared he and Rhen keep in touch even off camera.

"Nag-eenjoy ako sa kwentuhan namin. Mostly ang pinag-uusapan namin is about the series, and, you know, sometimes yung mga buhay namin. Masarap kausap si Rhen and maraming kaming napag-uusapan, we're very comfortable pag-usapan kahit na anong bagay, to the point na kahit nagkakaroon kami ng tampuhan, inuupuan namin," Joseph said.

With their bond having grown stronger, fans couldn't help but wonder if it could lead to something romantic in the future.  

Rhen is non-commital.

"For now po may walls pa din, kailangan maging smart ako lalo nasa panahon na ito, so, yung focus ko po right now is yung career ko po talaga and kung dumating yung tamang tao sana maintindihan niya na first love ko po talaga yung craft ko," she said.

Joseph is also on the same page, focusing on his career and being careful when it comes to relationships.

"Naiintindihan ko si Rhen kasi feeling ko nandun rin ako sa part ng buhay ko na parang you don't want to rush things, you want to make sure na maayos lahat especially yung partner at magiging kasama mo sa buhay," Joseph maintained.

With only a few days before they say goodbye to their characters Zeke and Aemie, Joseph and Rhen shared how grateful they are to be part of the project.

"I’m just really thankful and grateful nung ikaw ang naging partner ko dito. Like what you said, alam kong hindi ko magagawa ’yong mga bagay na nagawa ko dito kung hindi rin dahil sa tulong mo," Joseph said.

Holding back her tears, Rhen returned the favor.

"Thank you kasi ang haba ng pasensya mo and I don’t think magagawa ko kasi yung dapat kong magawa kung wala ka so, sobrang grateful ko doon na ikaw talaga ang nakasama ko. Thank you for the happiness, thank you for the sadness, and salamat sa lahat ng chaos, lahat ng ups and downs, lalo na doon sa pinakamahihirap na part," Rhen said.

Directed by Fifth Solomon, ''My Husband Is a Mafia Boss" is based on the popular Wattpad novel by the late Diana Marie Maranan. Since its April premiere, the show has gained attention for its romantic moments and surprising twists.
