ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office condemned a shooting incident inside a mosque in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on the eve of Eid’l Adha on Tuesday, May 26.
Police described the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable" and condoled with the bereaved families.
Lawmen are conducting dragnet, hot pursuit, and intelligence operations to identify and arrest the suspects.
The Philippine National Police appealed to the public to provide information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Four armed men barged into the mosque in Purok Malipayon, Barangay Upper Sang-an at 7:18 p.m. and fired at devotees, killing a 41-year-old businessman and a male senior citizen.
Eid’l Adha or the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice is one of two important events in Islam.
