Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso personally attended the Project BINHI Cash-for-Work payout held at Pedro Guevara Elementary School for beneficiaries from Baseco, District 1, and District 2, including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and solo parents.
Under Project BINHI, or “Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished,” around 500 beneficiaries were given temporary employment through a 20-day community gardening program aimed at promoting food security, environmental awareness, and sustainable livelihood.
Each beneficiary received P695 per day, amounting to a total of P13,900 for their participation in the program.
Together with Vice Mayor Chi Atienza, they emphasized the importance of cooperation between local and national government agencies in delivering assistance programs to the public.
“Kapag patuloy ang pakikipagtulungan ng lokal na pamahalaan at national government, ginhawa ang makakamit ng taumbayan (When the local government and the national government continue working together, the people will benefit and experience relief).”
The Manila mayor also expressed gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for its continued partnership with the Manila City government in implementing programs that provide relief and opportunities for residents.
Domagoso likewise assured beneficiaries that government assistance would reach them completely and without deductions.
“Hangga’t ako ang Mayor at sa amin idinaan, kung piso ang ibinigay, piso rin ang makararating sa tao (“As long as I am mayor and the funds pass through us, if one peso is given, one peso will also reach the people),” he added.
