PRODUCTS for export in Western Visayas.
ILOILO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has refined the development road map for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) product exports in Western Visayas region.
DTI-6 officer-in-charge Regional Director Mutya Eusores said the Export Development Road Map for MSMEs of Western Visayas (2026 to 2028) seeks to “finalize a highly responsive regional framework and map out concrete, action-oriented programs that directly address the real-world operational challenges faced by local exporters.”
The DTI-6 is implementing the whole-of-government approach to address MSME export challenges, especially with the impact of the fuel crisis due to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
This includes complex issues such as high shipping costs, international certifications, and other logistical requirements.
The enhancement of the MSME export road map is designed for top export products in Western Visayas, including natural fibers, coco-based products, and seafood.
An inter-agency technical working group (TWG) meeting that included the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PFIDA), and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) discussed the road map.
The May 26 gathering was attended by MSME focal persons from the provincial governments of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo.
