DAVAO CITY – Davao cacao products once again took center stage in this city’s beverage scene as a local chocolate producer and a bar here launched on Wednesday, May 27, five signature cacao-infused drinks made from locally sourced cacao.
The event at MUNI Mixology + Kitchen introduced handcrafted drinks that incorporate cacao with coffee, ceremonial matcha, whiskey, pistachio, and citrus flavors.
Dubbed “The Fifth Pour,” Cacao de Davao chief operating officer Ethan Kyle Lim said the partnership with MUNI Mixology + Kitchen shows how versatile Davao cacao is through drinks that mix local ingredients and modern mixology.
"The partnership reflects a growing movement among local brands and food establishments to elevate Mindanao-sourced ingredients into modern culinary and beverage experiences," Lim said.
Among the featured drinks are the Cacao Leo, a cacao ganache-based beverage topped with salted vanilla and cream cheese foam; Cacao Matcha, which blends ceremonial matcha with cacao ganache; Pistachio Cacao Latte, Cacao BLVD, a whiskey-based cacao cocktail, and Cacao Sour, a citrus-forward cacao-infused cocktail.
Lim said that the collaboration is about showing how local cacao can evolve into different experiences while still staying rooted in Davao.
“We want people to see that our local products can stand alongside global concepts in terms of creativity, quality, and experience,” he added.
MUNI Mixology + Kitchen said the collaboration also serves as an exploration of flavor, storytelling, and local identity through crafted beverage offerings.
The launching was held as Davao continues to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading cacao-producing regions, with local enterprises increasingly introducing cacao into lifestyle, hospitality, tourism, and premium dining spaces.
Both establishments said the collaboration aims to create a distinctly Davao experience by combining local sourcing with modern beverage culture while promoting innovation and local pride.
