Individuals, groups, and organizations wishing to provide donations or relief assistance are advised to coordinate with the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office at the Wawa Multi-Purpose Building.
“Coordination with CSWDO is necessary to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient distribution of assistance, and comply with the guidelines of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH),” it said.
Due to public health and safety, the city government is discouraging “the donation of cooked food, as high temperatures may cause spoilage and increase the risk of foodborne illnesses in evacuation centers.”
Only cooked food prepared by business establishments with valid sanitary permits and proper food handling practices will be accepted. Used clothing will not be accepted based on DSWD guidelines.
The city government will accept donations of bottled water; ready-to-eat and non-perishable food items such as canned goods, biscuits, crackers, bread, instant noodles, coffee, milk, and rice; hygiene kits and toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, sanitary napkins, diapers, alcohol, tissue, etc.); towels and blankets; sleeping mats and pillows; toys for children; slippers for children and adults; and baby supplies and other essential needs.
The Taguig City Fire Station reported that 175 houses were destroyed during the fire that engulfed a residential area in Pulong Kendi 2 in the barangay.
