TACLOBAN CITY – Police Col. Celerino Sacro Jr. recently revealed his plans as Leyte police chief.
Sacro, who assumed the position recently, vowed to reduce criminality in the province by stepping up the campaign against wanted persons, loose firearms, illegal drugs, and illegal gambling, aligned with the four flagship programs of Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“Wanted persons have no place on our streets. People should be able to sleep well at night, confident that they are safe within their homes,” Sacro said.
He added that the “Pulis sa Barangay” program remains fully implemented while “Oplan Bantay Kalsada” has been strengthened to block the entry and transport of contraband. This is critical, he said, as Leyte serves as a gateway connecting Luzon and Mindanao.
To boost the morale and welfare of personnel, Sacro introduced the “Coffee Break with PD” initiative, where officers facing administrative cases receive peer counseling and guidance.
In support of the “Tamang Bihis” policy, police officers with worn-out or damaged bull caps are given new hats.
Before his assignment to Leyte, Baybay City native Sacro served the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
