Worshippers began arriving as early as 4:30 a.m., with the Eid prayer and khutbah (sermon) held from 6:25 a.m. to 7:03 a.m. The event was conducted under coordinated security and crowd management operations led by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), ensuring a peaceful and orderly celebration.
The Quezon City government supported the peaceful observance by deploying personnel for traffic management, security, and public assistance around the Quezon Memorial Circle in coordination with the QCPD and Task Force Disiplina.
Free city buses were also provided for Muslim residents to ensure accessible transportation to and from designated prayer areas.
“A blessed Eid’l Adha to our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this Feast of Sacrifice and faith in Allah bring peace, prosperity, and success to you and your loved ones. Eid Mubarak!” city officials said.
Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience, before divine intervention provided a ram in his place.
In a parallel initiative, the Quezon City government is holding the QC Services Caravan at the White Mosque Grounds in Barangay Payatas along San Miguel Extension from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
The caravan provides various public services, including QCID processing, scholarship assistance, medical and dental consultations, civil registry services, and programs from different city offices such as the Quezon City Youth Development Office, Persons with Disability Affairs Office, Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs, and the Quezon City Health Department.
On-site assistance services are also being offered, including free haircuts, social assistance programs, vitamins distribution, grooming services, massage services, and blood pressure monitoring.
Malacañang declared May 27, 2026, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha.
Republic Act No. 9849 recognizes the 10th day of Zhul Hijja, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, as a national holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha, a movable feast tied to the Hajj pilgrimage season.
Eid’l Adha marks the culmination of the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca and highlights themes of sacrifice, obedience, and faith in God.
