MPower, the retail electricity arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has partnered with Calamba Medical Center (CMC) to support the healthcare institution’s growing energy requirements through a reliable and flexible electricity supply.
In a statement on Tuesday, May 26, MPower said the partnership will cover the enrollment of five service accounts under the retail aggregation program (RAP) and one account under the competitive retail electricity market (CREM).
The arrangement will allow the hospital’s buildings and facilities in Laguna province to benefit from more competitive electricity rates.
Part of the hospital group under Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), CMC is one of the leading healthcare institutions in south Luzon.
The hospital is recognized as Laguna’s premier medical center, serving as a major referral hospital for acute care while providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to surrounding communities.
CMC said participation in RAP would help improve operational efficiency and flexibility, supporting enhancements in daily operations and patient services.
“We see this partnership not just as a way to save on costs, but as our contribution to the nation, maximizing resources and building a better future for the next generation,” said CMC president and chief executive officer (CEO) Pilar Nenuca P. Almira.
CMC added that the partnership would also support its future expansion plans and energy requirements.
“This is only the beginning, and with MPower’s support, we are confident we can do even more—both for our hospital and in contributing to the country’s responsible use of resources. We also look forward to expanding this partnership with the upcoming construction of CMC’s new medical buildings,” Almira added.
Meralco Senior Vice President and MPower Head Redel M. Domingo said reliable electricity supply plays a key role in helping healthcare institutions operate efficiently and strengthen resilience.
“We are proud to support CMC as it expands its capacity to serve more communities in Laguna,” Domingo said. “This partnership reflects how we continue to evolve our energy solutions alongside our customers’ growing needs.”
