A man with previous carnapping cases was arrested in Quezon City on Monday, May 25, after allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Cubao and being found in possession of a loaded, unlicensed firearm.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the suspect allegedly stole a Honda Click 125 motorcycle that was parked along the street in Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, at around 9:10 a.m.
The 30-year-old owner immediately noticed the theft and confronted the suspect, prompting a nearby resident to alert police officers who were conducting patrol operations in the area.
The responding officers promptly intervened, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Recovered from the suspect was an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver loaded with two live ammunition.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ramon,” 35, a resident of Antipolo City, Rizal, has previous cases for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and unjust vexation.
Charges of carnapping and violation of Republic Act 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013) will be filed against him before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
