2GO Group Inc., the largest integrated transportation and logistics provider in the country, is expanding its corporate partnership with SMX Convention Center to provide end-to-end logistics and freight services across the country’s growing conventions sector.

In a statement, 2GOP said the agreement integrates its multimodal shipping, customs brokerage, and passenger travel capabilities directly into the service portfolio of SMX, the convention management arm of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp.

The arrangement targets domestic and international exhibitors requiring cargo movement, booth construction supplies, and freight handling across all SMX properties nationwide. The operations include Manila, Clark, Bacolod, Davao, Taguig, and the recently inaugurated SMX Seaside Cebu.

The corporate alliance leverages structural synergies within SM Investments Corp., which controls 2GO as a subsidiary and owns SMX through its property and hospitality divisions.

By consolidating freight forwarding and passenger operations under a single logistics provider, the companies aim to capture a larger share of the country's meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector, which has seen a post-pandemic resurgence in on-ground trade shows and corporate events.

The logistics framework allows event organizers to manage both heavy equipment freight and personnel transit simultaneously through 2GO Travel and its cargo units. The operational scale is intended to reduce friction for cross-regional exhibitions, where moving specialized booths and bulk materials between islands historically poses significant supply chain hurdles.

“Events today require speed, reliability, seamless coordination, and convenience for exhibitors managing operations across different parts of the country,” said Walid Wafik, Senior Vice President for Operations at SM Hotels and Conventions Corp.

Wafik noted that the integrated services are designed to elevate the logistical efficiency across their nationwide venues.

The partnership also positions 2GO to handle the foundational supply chain requirements for upcoming SMX infrastructure developments. SMX is currently expanding its portfolio, which includes the development of the 18,000-square-meter SMXCITE exhibition hall in Pasay City, scheduled for completion in early 2027, alongside upcoming regional trade halls in Nueva Ecija, Batangas, and Laguna.

The consolidation of these services comes amid rising demand for specialized project logistics in the archipelago. 2GO operates a domestic fleet of ten vessels, including nine roll-on/roll-off passenger ships, alongside extensive land and air express networks that reach approximately 95 percent of the local population.
