The Philippine taekwondo team concluded its campaign on a good note after winning two silver and nine bronze medals in the 9th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia recently.
The Nationals added five bronzes in Day 2 to complete an 11-medal haul, led by the silver medals won by Ian Matthew Cordon and Rodolfo Reyes Jr.
Cordon and Reyes placed second in Individual Male category’s U30 and U40, respectively.
Apart from them, father-daughter duo of Jocel Lyn Ninobla (U30 Individual Female), and June Ninobla (U60 Individual Male) bagged bronzes as well as Juliana Mykhail Candelaria (over 17 Individual Female), and Justin Kobe Macario (over 17 Individual Male).
Meanwhile in 27th Asian Taekwondo Championships also in Mongolia, Clarence Sarza powered through the women’s 46kg category for the country’s lone podium in the said competition.
Sarza delivered a superb performance, resulting in a bronze medal in the said weight class. On the other hand, Olympian Kurt Barbosa fell short for a medal after yielding in the men’s 54kg class quarterfinals.
