TUANO (Tara Yap)
ILOILO CITY – New Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas) chief Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño is prioritizing police visibility to further deter crimes.
“Dapat na ginagawa ng kapulisan dito ang tinatawag natin na intensification of police visibility (What our police should be doing here is what we call intensification of police visibility),” said Tuaño, the former spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
He emphasized that police visibility is part of the PNP’s "Safer Cities" initiative that began in Metro Manila last April 6.
“It is being cascaded to all Police Regional Offices in the country,” Tuaño said in Camp Delgado, the PRO-6 headquarters in Iloilo City, on Monday, May 25.
Tuaño told the Iloilo Police and Defense Press Corps that police visibility would sustain the decrease of crimes while increasing the public’s trust to keep them safe.
In his first command conference, Tuaño ordered all police units in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City to beef up visibility.
He said to beef up crime prevention, more police officers should be deployed in high-density areas, including transportation terminals and shopping centers.
Tuaño vowed to continue the programs of his predecessor, Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, including sustaining the strong campaign against illegal drugs.
