Muntinlupa K9 team rescues survivor in Pampanga building collapse

The Muntinlupa K9 Search and Rescue (SAR) team was dispatched to assist in search and rescue operations after a nine-story building under construction collapsed in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga, on May 24.
According to the Angeles City Public Information Office, the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) received a report at around 3 a.m. about the collapse on Teodoro Street.
Based on the initial report, a total of 26 individuals were rescued, while two fatalities were recorded, including a Malaysian national from a nearby hotel.
During the flag-raising ceremony at Muntinlupa City Hall on May 25, Mayor Ruffy Biazon announced that the city’s K9 unit was called to support the ongoing operations. At 2:30 a.m. on May 25, the Muntinlupa K9 team successfully located a survivor.
Mayor Biazon emphasized the city’s readiness to deploy its rescue teams when needed:
“Una dahil may kakayahan tayo. Masasayang naman 'yung kakayahan kung hindi magagamit (First, because we have the capability. It would be a waste if the capability is not used).”
