PRO-13 all set for Palarong Pambansa
BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga region (PRO-13) is ready for the formal opening of the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.
The National Games will formally open on Sunday afternoon at the Gov. D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV said security forces are fully mobilized to safeguard thousands of athletes, coaches, officials, and visitors arriving in Caraga for the country’s premier national sporting event.
“PRO-13 remains fully committed to ensuring that every athlete, delegate, and visitor experiences a peaceful, secure, and memorable Palarong Pambansa here in Caraga,” Magistrado said in a statement in Sunday.
He added that more than 16,000 delegates from 18 regions nationwide have arrived.
To secure venues, billeting quarters, transportation hubs, and tourist destinations, 2,316 police personnel supported by 355 staff from partner agencies, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and local governments were deployed.
There are 990 volunteers from advisory groups and barangay peace action teams.
Police officials said 111 mobility assets are in place, while specialized units such as SWAT, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and K9 teams are conducting inspections and security sweeps.
Fifty-five police assistance desks have been established across event sites, with officers maintaining round-the-clock patrols.
The Palarong Pambansa is expected to draw thousands of spectators and highlight both athletic excellence and Caraga’s capacity to host a major national event.
