Former teachers benefit in AAXS golf meet on June 9

Former teachers that helped mold the foundation of students during their younger years at Xavier School in San Juan will be one of the beneficiaries when Batch ‘01 hosts the Alumni Association of Xavier School (AAXS) Golf Tournament on June 9 at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in San Juan City.

Headed by AAXS president Jim Howard See of Batch ’94, part of the proceeds will go to group “Xaverians: Para Kay Cher” that supports former teachers of the educational institution.

“That is our way of giving back to our former teachers who are now retired, in need of support for their medicines or medical treatment. Of course they helped us during our years at Xavier School. Now it’s our turn to help them,” said Oliver Gan, who heads the AAXS sports golf committee.

Aside from former teachers, Gan, who is also the president of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP), mentioned that the two other beneficiaries of the golf tournament are the AAXS and the current Xavier Golf Team.

Gan said he is grateful that this year’s golf event is getting solid support, which included PGA Cars - with its ‘hole-in-one’ prize of a brand-new Audi Q3 - and Transview, Signature Series by SM Residences, Blacksun Renewables Corporation, Januarius Holdings Inc., and DN Golf.

The tournament format will be a two-man team modified scramble with alternate putting once on the green scoring under the System36

See will lead the ceremonial tee with Batch ’01 president Christopher Tan, Wack Wack Golf and Country Club chief Ben Abalos, Lawrence Tan, Batch ‘01 Homecoming chairman Prudencio Coyiuto of PGA Cars, Jeremy Go of Go for Gold, Anthony Uy of Darlington, and Gan.

Division 1 will feature pairs composed exclusively of Xavierians, while Division 2 will allow mixed partnerships consisting of one Xavierian and a guest or tournament sponsor. The field is limited to the first 150 players.

The other event sponsors include Jele Beautie Jele Cube, PCSO: Scratch It, Full Swing, Acro city ,Islandwide Distribution Corp., Panthers Golf Team, Darlington, Premium Choice Meat Shop, Bingo Plus, Gerry’s Grill, Par Supply, JGFP, The Creamery Catering, IC Systems, EastWest Bank, ACCLI PLX Pure Logistics Express, RDY Premium Auto Group, Espa-Phil Trading, Bebangs Halo Halo, VC Securities Corp., Pick Up Coffee, SVC broadcast and professional solutions,Casabella and former AAXS president Edgar Gatchalian

Other ‘hole-in-one’ prizes will come from supporters OGAN, Superkit, Blacksun Renewables, Jeremy Go, Kevin San Agusttin and Get Go Golf Carts.

Aside from See, the other AAXS officers are Jonathan Richie Yap (vice president), Jeremy Cobankiat (secretary-general), and Joseph Emmanuel Ang (treasurer).

The 11 members of the Board of Trustees are Alvin Ang, Alfonso Yñigo Dumlao, Fritz Rhinhart Dy, Atty. Anthony Lemuel Lim, Atty. Stefano Angelo Lim, Dr. Benjamin Jose Quito, Sean Kennedy Salvador, Allen Christopher Silvano, Frederick Tiu, Jan Ichael Uy, and Gan.
