6 injured as bus crashes in Catbalogan

TACLOBAN CITY – Six passengers were injured when a bus collided with several other vehicles before crashing into a concrete structure in Barangay 12, Catbalogan City, Samar on Saturday, May 23.
The Catbalogan City Police Station (CPS) said that the bus operated by a local transportation company traveling from Guiuan, Eastern Samar headed for the city proper experienced mechanical trouble while going down a steep part of the road.
The bus driver, Luz, 48, said he tried to apply the brakes to slow down and control speed but the braking system failed, leading to a loss of full control.
The bus hit nine other vehicles, injuring their drivers and passengers. The collision damaged a house and a footwear store.
All injured were taken to the Samar Provincial Hospital.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
