TNT is seeking replacement for injured import Bol Bol, who suffered a suspected partial Achilles tear during Game 2 of their of their PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup semifinals series against Meralco.
The Tropang 5G are in a race against time and team manager Jojo Lastimosa is busy making phone calls to find a replacement import in time for the Game 3 of their semis series at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, May 24.
In an interview with the members of the press after the game, Lastimosa said TNT is looking at two possible options: First, bring in its supposed Governors Cup import Darius Days to finish the conference in place of Bol or second, tap an entirely new reinforcement in Marquese Chriss.
Both players are drafted in the NBA and should provide a boost for the Tropang 5G. The problem is both players are in the US and TNT should report any import change to the PBA office by noon time of Saturday, May 23.
Between the two, Days should have the advantage in terms of adjusting to the TNT system, having played with the Tropang 5G already when he was a stand in last conference while the team is waiting for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
But Chriss seemed to be a more viable option given that he is taller at 6-foot-9 and his athleticism should provide almost similar feats to Bol. He also played longer in the NBA with 292 games.
Reports, however, emerged Saturday morning that it is unlikely for Chriss to sign up as Bol replacement, leaving the team options to immediately tap Days or play All-Filipino in Game 3 while searching for other possible reinforcements.
