Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano warmly welcomed Cadet Sharmaine Sumampong, a proud Taguig resident and Filipino exchange student at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Maryland.
Sumampong, accompanied by her mother Mercita, met with the mayor, who praised her as one of Taguig’s outstanding achievers.
A graduate of Kapt. Jose Cardones Integrated School and Sen. Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School, Sumampong went on to study at the Philippine Military Academy before being selected for the prestigious USNA program.
“Ngayon, she is representing our country as a foreign exchange student sa United States Naval Academy, carrying the pride of the Philippine Military Academy,” Cayetano wrote on Facebook.
Currently on short leave, Sumampong will continue her studies at USNA until May next year.
“Sharmaine, the whole city of Taguig salutes your dedication and excellence! We are always here to back you up!” Cayetano added.
