Makati City, OWWA ink pact to boost OFW support services
The local government of Makati and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen support for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families.
On Wednesday, May 20, Makati Mayor Nancy Binay, OWWA Administrator PY Caunan, and OWWA Regional Welfare Office NCR Director Ma. Teresa Capa formalized the partnership, which establishes an OWWA Help Desk in the city.
Under the agreement, OWWA will conduct regular coordination meetings and orientations for OFW Help Desk officers and local government personnel, while also providing information materials and support services for OFWs.
The Makati local government, in turn, will provide office space and assign personnel to ensure the Help Desk delivers continuous and prompt assistance to OFWs and their families.
The local government said the initiative aims to make vital services more accessible to OFWs and their dependents in Makati.
It added that the collaboration will strengthen welfare programs and assistance by improving coordination between the local government and OWWA.
“Patuloy ang OWWA sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga lokal na pamahalaan upang mas mailapit ang ‘Serbisyong May Puso’ para sa ating mga OFWs (OWWA continues to work with local government units to bring its ‘Serbisyong May Puso’ closer to OFWs),” the agency stated.
