Now with 12 years of experience in the acting industry, Joshua Garcia has seamlessly transitioned from cute, heartthrob roles to full-fledged dramatic performances, consistently rising to every challenge that comes his way.
But even after taking on a variety of projects, there is still one thing he isn’t entirely comfortable with: performing love scenes.
During the Star Magic Spotlight press conference held at the Dolphy Theater in Quezon City on May 21, Joshua gets honest about the matter, going on to share his thoughts about showing skin in front of the camera.
"Actually hindi ako comfortable at all doing love scenes, like showing my body in front of the camera. Pero kasi dun nangagaling yung pagiging actor mo," Joshua said.
Joshua admitted that doing love scenes is still a difficult process for him.
"Uncomfortable talaga kasi, showing your body? Joshua said.
The actor took a moment to commend the cameramen for thoughtfully following his request, helping make the task more comfortable for him.
So, kapag ganung scene, dinadaan ko muna sa mga cameramen," he said.
Recalling the intimate scene he did with Ivana in "Love Is Never Gone," Joshua mentioned how he simply channeled his character in the show, Theo.
Working on a series together for the first time, Joshua shared that it was a big deal for him to somehow establish a connection with Ivana prior to the actual shoot.
"I think malaking factor talaga sa akin na open yung both actors para mag-work yung eksena and yun din yung nakita ko kay Ivana nung nagsimula kami. Never kasi kami nagkaroon ng meeting bago kami magsimula, nung nag-meet kami diretsong salang agad sa eksena," he said.
Although the two didn't get a proper introduction, Joshua was amazed as to how Ivana was receptive to suggestions, eager to make their scenes together even better.
