Birthday celebrant killed in motorcycle crash

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – A 34-year-old man who was celebrating his birth anniversary and his companion were killed in a motorcycle crash in Barangay Tablac here before dawn on Friday, May 22.
The victims were residents of Barangay Dan-ar, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.
Police said the motorcycle driven by the birthday celebrant crashed into the rear of a 10-wheel truck driven by a 56-year-old man from Dolores, Abra.
The victims were thrown onto the pavement and taken to the Candon General Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Investigators said the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet but his back rider was not.
Police are investigating if the victims were drunk during the accident.
The truck driver is under police custody as authorities continue their investigation.
