The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) recovered a carnapped vehicle in Parañaque City, which is believed to be linked to a rent-to-own scheme.
Police said silver Toyota Vios was reported missing on May 8, 2026, after it was taken while parked outside the residence of a female police officer in Barangay Alipangpang, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.
Investigators of the District Anti-Carnapping Unit said the vehicle had been acquired on April 13, 2026, in Laoag City for P520,000 and was later reported missing. Initial findings indicated that unidentified suspects used a Hyundai Stargazer as a getaway vehicle.
Records from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) showed that both the Toyota Vios and the suspected getaway vehicle were registered under a certain “Vincent,” who was later summoned by authorities for verification of his possible involvement.
Police also said the vehicle was covered by a rent-to-own arrangement involving a certain “Gerald,” prompting further validation of possible links among individuals connected to the transaction.
Using GPS tracking, operatives traced the vehicle to Santa Rosa, Laguna before confirming its location at a hotel parking facility in Entertainment City, Parañaque City, where it was recovered.
CCTV footage showed that a woman drove the vehicle into the establishment on May 12 and later left at around 7:05 p.m. aboard a Toyota Innova.
The QCPD said follow-up operations are ongoing to identify and arrest all persons involved and reminded the public to exercise caution in vehicle transactions and ensure proper documentation in rent-to-own and purchase agreements.
