CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Police recovered smuggled cigarettes valued at P5.1 million and arrested two suspected smugglers on May 18 in Barangay Canlubang here.
The suspects were identified as Jon and Cris from Rosario, Batangas.
Recovered from them were 79 master cases of cigarettes with an estimated value of P5,135,000 and without the required graphic health warnings.
Suspects face cases for violating Republic Act No. 10643 or the Graphic Health Warnings Law and Republic Act No. 9211 or the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003.
The Philippine National Police cited operating units for their achievement and vowed no letup in the campaign against smuggling and other crimes.
