Mitsubishi Motors participates in collective clean-up for Laguna de Bay

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), together with the local government and other government agencies and various partner other private organizations, participated in a coastal clean-up drive that forms part of the “Abot-Kamay Para sa Laguna de Bay – Mission in Action: Solid Waste Recovery” program of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA). This program focuses on practical, community-driven solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
The activity centered on the collection, segregation, and recycling of solid waste to help reduce the volume of pollutants entering Laguna de Bay. By promoting responsible waste management practices, the program aims to contribute to improving water quality, preserving biodiversity, and supporting the livelihoods of communities that depend on the lake.
MMPC employee-volunteers actively participated in the clean-up, working alongside representatives from LLDA and other organizations to collect waste along the shoreline and nearby areas. Through these collective efforts, MMPC volunteers gathered a total of 317 kilograms of waste, contributing to the overall 9,957 kilograms of waste collected during the event.
According to MMPC Safety, Health and Environment Vice President Marfel Ancheta, support for the program reinforces the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. “By participating in initiatives like Abot-Kamay, we continue to take part in environmental protection and community well-being. Each effort, no matter how simple, contributes to a larger goal of preserving Laguna de Bay for future generations,” said Ancheta.
The activity underscores the critical importance of multi-sector collaboration among the private sector, government, and communities in addressing pressing environmental concerns challenges. It emphasizes the shared responsibility of safeguarding natural resources while ensuring equitable access to clean and sustainable water for all, thereby reinforcing social inclusion and fairness.
