CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A 49-year-old jeepney barker was mauled to death by a colleague on Tuesday, May 19, in Barangay Halang, this city.
Police identified the victim as George.
Investigation said the victim was having a drinking session with the suspect Alfred, 38, when a heated altercation erupted.
The suspect broke and attempted to stab the victim with a bottle. George was then mauled and sustained injuries in the body.
The victim and his live-in partner went to sleep but George was found dead at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20.
Police arrested the suspect during a follow-up operation and faces appropriate cases. George’s body will be subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a senior citizen drowned while fetching water from a river on Wednesday afternoon, May 20, in Barangay San Jose, General Luna, Quezon.
Police said victim Josefa, 63, suddenly suffered from epilepsy, fell into the river, and drowned. She was taken to the Rural Health Unit where she was declared dead.
