'Dito sa Maynila, pahabaan ng buhay': Mayor Isko upgrades health centers
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday, May 21, vowed to help “prolong the lives” of Manileños as the city government kicked off the renovation of the Pamana Health Center in Sta. Mesa.
Located along Damka Street, the project aims to improve the facility and expand access to faster and more efficient medical services for residents of Sta. Mesa and nearby areas.
The initiative is part of the city’s broader push under the Minimum Basic Needs (MBN) program of Domagoso, which focuses on rehabilitating and upgrading health centers across Manila.
Domagoso emphasized that strengthening primary healthcare facilities would help decongest hospitals by addressing cases that can already be managed at the community level.
The city’s efforts align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s call for local government units (LGUs) to boost public awareness and implementation of government healthcare programs.
Domagoso assured Manileños of sustained improvements in healthcare services.
“Dito sa Maynila, pahabaan ng buhay! Hangga’t nandirito ako, pipilitin kong maiparamdam sa inyo ang pagmamahal ng Lungsod ng Maynila (Here in Manila, we aim to prolong lives. As long as I am here, I will strive to make you feel the care and compassion of the City of Manila),” he said.
He added that the city will continue investing in better facilities, modern equipment, and adequate medical personnel to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all.
The ongoing upgrades were also highlighted during the Local Health Board meeting on May 20, attended by representatives from PhilHealth, the Department of Health, and EMed, who provided data and recommendations to improve healthcare delivery in the city.
The Pamana Health Center project follows similar initiatives in other districts, including the recent groundbreaking of the Beata Health Center in Pandacan.
