CAMP MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas City – Police confiscated smuggled cigarettes valued at P3.5 million and arrested a 32-year-old woman in an entrapment operation in Barangay Guimalas, Balayan, this province, on Tuesday, May 19.
Police Col. Oliver Ebora, Batangas police director, identified the suspect as Norilyn.
Norilyn was arrested after accepting marked money from a police poseur-buyer in exchange for the contraband.
Recovered from the suspect were 87 cigarette cases with an estimated value of P3.5 million and the boodle money.
The suspect and pieces of evidence were taken to the Balayan police station.
Police said Norilyn faces appropriate charges in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau of Customs (BoC).
Ebora vowed to intensify their campaign against all forms of criminality, particularly illegal trade and smuggling.
