The local government of San Juan, in partnership with PhilHealth, will provide free cataract screening and surgery to around 200 residents under its "Malinaw na Mata, Ginhawa ang Dala" program.
Mayor Francis Zamora invited residents who wish to avail themselves of the free services to register at the Office of the Mayor at the San Juan City Hall.
Registration started on May 18 and will run until May 29, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The services to be provided include cataract screening, cardiology clearance, and cataract surgery.
“Mga minamahal kong San Juaneño, inilulunsad po natin ang ‘Malinaw na Mata, Ginhawa ang Dala,’ isang libreng cataract screening at operation program para sa 200 benepisyaryo ng San Juan sa pagsusumikap ng aking anak na si Rocco Zamora katuwang ang PhilHealth (My dear San Juaneños, we are launching ‘Malinaw na Mata, Ginhawa ang Dala,’ a free cataract screening and surgery program for 200 beneficiaries in San Juan, through the efforts of my son, Rocco Zamora, in partnership with PhilHealth),” Zamora said.
The mayor said interested residents must bring a valid ID with a San Juan address when registering and must be PhilHealth members. Those without PhilHealth membership will be assisted by the local government in securing it.
The program will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with services to be conducted in batches based on the schedule of screening and surgery.
Zamora noted that while the program is open to all residents, indigent individuals and senior citizens will be prioritized.
“Patuloy po nating ilalapit ang serbisyong medikal at programang tunay na may malasakit para sa bawat San Juaneño (We will continue bringing medical services and programs that truly show compassion for every San Juaneño),” the mayor said.
