The Bacolod City Police Office is probing the source believed to be from Luzon of the P28.5-million worth of suspected shabu seized from a 35-year-old store owner in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 31 here shortly before midnight on Tuesday, May 19.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested Bongi with 4.2 kilos of shabu.
Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia, Bacolod police director, in a media briefing Wednesday, said she was an alleged drug courier and classified as a newly identified individual and a high-value individual due to the huge volume of recovered contraband.
Rebadomia said they monitored the suspect for three months after the CDEU received information about her alleged illegal drug activities.
Her arrest follows series of buy-bust operations here where women were also apprehended and may be linked to the suspect.
Rebadomia aid the contraband was transported to this city from Luzon or other areas.
Recovered from the suspect were a Chinese tea packaging and the P7,000 marked money.
Police are probing the extent of her network and areas of distribution aside from this highly-urbanized city.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) chief, commended operating units for a successful operation.
Cardiño said the operation shows that PRO-NIR remains relentless in the anti-illegal drug campaign.
He warned individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade to stop as the law will eventually catch up with them.
