Police seized more than ₱204,000 worth of allegedly smuggled cigarettes at a checkpoint in Barangay San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan, on Tuesday afternoon, May 19.
Authorities arrested alias “JC,” 25, of Paombong, Bulacan, after he failed to present a driver’s license and motorcycle registration when flagged down.
Officers discovered 200 reams of smuggled cigarettes inside his tricycle, which were immediately confiscated.
The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
Bulacan Police Provincial Office officer-in-charge Col. Jay B. Baybayan said checkpoint operations will continue to be intensified to curb smuggling and other illegal activities across the province.
