Lace and linen lead the way in effortless warm-weather dressing
As the season continues to sizzle, dressing calls for pieces that feel as light as the summer air

Despite being in the transition weather period, temperatures continue to soar in many parts of the country. And, as many of us would like to deny it, this is also influencing the way we dress. Selecting the right pieces these days isn’t just about style, but more of a necessity. Although that doesn’t mean style has to take a backseat.
This season of heat and in-between weather offers an opportunity to rethink and play with the way we dress. From loose tailoring and airy silhouettes to subtle skin-baring moments and easy palettes, there are unlimited ways to make dressing feel more intentional and effortless; among them are lace and linen.
When Zara opened its new space at Alabang Town Center, what welcomed shoppers, apart from its latest global store concept, were curated pieces that felt equal parts refined and breathable. Its newest collections put the spotlight on the versatility of lace and linen, giving a sense of ease and romanticism to otherwise minimal looks.
Romantic rebellion
This year marks the comeback of lace. Unlike in the past, it is charting a new style direction far from wedding aisles and vintage pieces. Lace has infiltrated contemporary dressing as an adornment in sneakers and structured blazers, and is now often mixed with denim and leather, among others.
For some, lace’s resurgence also signals the return of nightwear as outerwear. Camisoles, chemises, and lingerie skirts in delicate lace are some of the pieces to invest in to stay cool and stylish this season.
Lace can be as delicate or as edgy as you want it to be. Taking cues from Zara’s latest offerings, the best way to style lace pieces in a contemporary way is through accessories. Sandals, slippers, and sneakers instantly tone down the romantic feel of lace, giving it a more relaxed and wearable edge for everyday dressing.

Naturally refined
Linen is a foolproof way to look and feel cool this season. Unlike heavier materials that trap heat, linen allows airflow, enabling the wearer to explore easy layering without feeling weighed down.
Zara’s linen edit explores the fabric’s natural texture and washed, earthy tones. Pleats add depth to its raw texture; its linen suits are perfect for special events, while its tinted pieces, especially red and chartreuse, bring a fresh energy to warm-weather dressing.
A sense of ease is also required when it comes to styling these linen pieces. Consider cord necklaces and chunky rings to give it an edge, while leather loafers and even unisex mules complement linen’s relaxed sophistication.
The new store
Conceived by Zara’s Architecture Studio, the brand's new space at Alabang Town Center features an extensive selection of women’s and men’s collections, with a spotlight on fragrances, shoes, and bags. One of the store’s highlights is its furniture, which makes browsing feel more like stepping into a styled home than a traditional retail space. It also features a repair booking service, a cardboard collection point to encourage customers to recycle online packaging, and self-payment stations, among others.
