Business communications group names new board
The newly elected 2026–2028 Board of Trustees of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. Fronted by Chairman Belle Tiongco and President Richard Arboleda, the incoming board is tasked with advancing professional learning, strengthening global networking, and promoting corporate governance within the local business communications industry.
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines has overhaulled its leadership structure for the 2026-2028 term, appointing Richard Arboleda as president to guide the organization through an increasingly complex landscape for corporate communications.
Arboleda succeeds Belle Tiongco, who will transition into the role of chairman of the Board of Trustees. The leadership transition arrives at a time when the responsibilities of communications professionals are shifting dramatically away from traditional public relations toward business strategy, organizational trust, and direct leadership engagement.
The newly approved board is tasked with overseeing the chapter’s premier recognition platforms. These include the Philippine Quill Awards and the CEO Excel Awards, a flagship program that is making a return to the association's roster of events.
Under the new administration, IABC Philippines plans to ramp up professional development initiatives, expand local member access to its broader global network, and drive deeper collaboration across the Southeast Asian nation's corporate landscape.
The organization, which holds historical significance as the very first IABC chapter established outside of North America, approved its full roster of trustees following a vote by its general membership.
In addition to Arboleda and Tiongco, the executive lineup includes Abigail Ho-Torres as vice president, Ferdinand Bondoy as secretary, and Michelle Bayhon as treasurer. Dave Devilles will assume the role of auditor.
The board will also rely on specialized committee chairs to drive its localized initiatives. Zandro Carlos Sison will lead membership efforts, while Charlotte Fabian-Reyes takes charge of partnerships and sponsorships.
Frances Ariola will head the brand and communications portfolio. On the awards front, Jeffrey Tarayao has been appointed chair of the returning CEO Excel Awards, and Marzie Marzan will lead the Philippine Quill Awards.
The incoming leadership team will be heavily supported by a panel of seasoned industry advisers to ensure rigorous professional standards and adherence to corporate governance. The advisory panel includes Ritzi Villarico-Ronquillo, an IABC Fellow, alongside Joe Zaldarriaga, Kane Errol Choa, Rey Anthony David, and Carmencita Arce.
The revamped board aims to address structural changes within the industry, where corporate communications budgets—often benchmarked in Philippine pesos—are being scrutinized more strictly for tangible returns on investment. As businesses grapple with rapid digital transformations and evolving stakeholder expectations, the association intends to anchor its strategy on sharpening the technical and strategic craft behind corporate storytelling.
