Suspended Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca said on Wednesday, May 20, that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released on the night of the Senate shooting incident was spliced to support the narrative that there was no attack on the institution.

"We are preparing the complete videos kasi (because) what they did, they spliced the videos," he told reporters in a chance interview.
"And they just selected the videos that will support their narrative. And I think it's not correct," he added.
When asked what narrative he was referring to, Aplasca said it was the claim that “there was no attack.”
Aplasca did not specify who was creating such a narrative.
It was Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., who presented the details of their investigation during a press briefing at Malacañang Palace, where footage of the incident was shown.
While not conclusive yet, Remulla said that the only conclusion is that there was no attack on the Senate.
Aplasca maintained that he only fired one shot.
Remulla noted that based on the CCTV footage, Aplasca appeared to have fired shots towards an area with no direct threat to him.
Aplasca also stated that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was not present during the security meeting with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on May 12. He also said that the topic of the meeting was the impending impeachment and the security preparations.
