Swift action by police personnel led to the arrest of a man armed with an improvised pen gun inside a police substation in Las Piñas City, while a woman he had attacked was filing a complaint against him.
Las Piñas Police chief Col. Ricky Neron identified the suspect as Jayson, 33, who was nabbed inside the CAA Police Substation in Barangay CAA, Las Piñas.
According to Neron, a 34-year-old woman arrived at the police substation to file a complaint against the suspect after he allegedly punched her on the right leg and was found carrying a weapon.
The victim told police that the suspect had been courting her, but she rejected him. During the interview, the suspect suddenly arrived at the substation.
Alert police personnel immediately restrained him and conducted a body search, which led to the recovery of an improvised pen gun and one live 5.56 caliber round of ammunition.
The suspect was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and placed under detention following his arrest.
He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
