The Quezon City government has opened employment opportunities for up to 100 senior citizens through a collaboration with a private sector.
The memorandum of agreement for the special employment program was formally signed on Monday, May 18, by the Quezon City government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald's Philippines), and the Quezon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to implement the initiative.
Under the agreement, qualified senior citizens will be deployed to around 50 McDonald’s stores across Quezon City, allowing them to earn additional income and remain active in the workforce.
City officials said the program promotes inclusive employment by recognizing that senior citizens continue to possess the skills, capability, and experience needed for gainful work despite their age.
Present during the signing were Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Golden Arches Development Corporation Managing Director Maria Margarita Torres, Vice President for Human Capital Group Ruben Marasigan, DOLE-NCR Quezon City Field Office Director II Rowella Grande, and QC PESO General Manager Rogelio Reyes.
The city government expressed gratitude to its private sector partners for supporting initiatives that expand livelihood opportunities and promote inclusive employment for senior citizens.
