A 28-year-old man was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after allegedly snatching a pair of gold earrings worth P22,500 from a woman in La Loma, Quezon City, on Monday morning, May 18.
QCPD identified the suspect as “Benjo,” a resident of Barangay Pinagkaisahan, who was apprehended by personnel of the La Loma Police Station (PS 1) shortly after the incident.
According to police, the victim was walking along Madrilejo Street corner A. Bonifacio Avenue near St. Joseph Church at around 7:30 a.m. when the suspect suddenly approached from behind and forcibly grabbed her earrings as she was about to board a jeepney.
The victim fell to the pavement and sustained minor injuries to her ears.
With the help of citizens, the suspect was subdued at the scene and later turned over to responding officers.
Authorities recovered the pair of earrings, valued at P22,500, from his possession.
Further verification revealed that the suspect has multiple prior criminal records, including robbery (snatching) in May 2025 and June 2024; violation of Presidential Decree (P.D.) 1602 in February 2025; robbery (hold-up) and violation of Republic Act (R.A.) 10591 in April 2023; violation of R.A. 9165 in August 2022; robbery in December 2019; and alarms and scandals in August 2019.
The suspect will face new charges of robbery before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
