A 40-year-old man, known in his neighborhood as a drug personality, was gunned down in broad daylight by a black-clad assailant in Sitio Aringit, Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City, Rizal, at around 12 p.m. on Monday, May 18, police said.
The Antipolo Component City Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said that prior to the incident, a witness, who was hanging clothes outside, overheard two individuals discussing an alleged transaction in which the victim reportedly failed to remit certain proceeds or payments.
The witness claimed to have seen the suspect -- dressed in a black helmet, black long sleeves, and black pants -- suddenly draw a firearm and repeatedly shoot the victim, identified as "Buddy."
After the victim fell to the ground lifeless, the suspect also fired at two men known only as “Puti” and “Alas,” but they managed to escape unharmed.
Based on the police report, several residents and neighbors in the area stated that Buddy, Puti, and Alas were allegedly known drug personalities in their neighborhood and were reportedly involved in illegal drug-related activities.
Personnel of the Antipolo CCPS are now conducting follow-up operations to arrest the gunman and determine the motive behind the shooting.
