The Pasay City government has deployed traffic personnel along J.W. Diokno Boulevard near the Senate building to manage congestion and maintain order during rallies linked to Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.
According to Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office (PTMO) head Ferdinand Lee, road closures were implemented starting at 11:00 a.m. on May 18, from the Mall of Asia area along J.W. Diokno Boulevard toward Buendia Avenue, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic amid expected demonstrations both supporting and opposing the vice president.
Lee said the road closure aims to maintain public order and ease congestion due to the anticipated influx of rally participants near the Senate complex.
He noted that 12 traffic personnel are deployed per shift, with operations divided into two schedules: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Additional personnel will also be assigned from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. should rally participants hold vigils around the Senate premises.
Motorists and commuters were advised to temporarily avoid J.W. Diokno Boulevard and nearby roads surrounding the Senate area due to possible heavy traffic caused by protest activities.
