P-pop groups unite for theme song of ASEAN-Korea fest
Filipino P-pop groups KAIA, HORI7ON and 1st.One have joined forces for “Sulong,” the official theme song of the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival’s “Round.”
“Round,” the official brand of the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival, was held in the Philippines on April 18 and 19.
Released under the special collaboration unit Project P-Pop: Rising, “Sulong” highlights themes of unity, resilience and shared ambition among Filipino artists aiming to bring P-pop to a wider global audience.
Members of KAIA described the collaboration as “a very exciting and meaningful experience” for the group.
“Even though we come from different groups with different styles and journeys, everyone shared the same goal of representing Filipino music and showing what P-Pop can achieve together,” the group said.
They added that the project reflected a collective effort not only among the artists but also among the production teams working behind the scenes to bring the performance to life.
HORI7ON debuted in South Korea in 2023, while 1st.One made its debut in 2020.
The word “Sulong,” which means “to move forward” or “to progress” in Filipino, carries significance for artists seeking to showcase local talent on the international stage.
A live performance of “Sulong” will air on KBS World TV on the following dates:
- Episode 1 — May 21, 9:50 p.m. KST
- Episode 2 — May 22, 9:50 p.m. KST
The KBS World YouTube premiere of Episodes 1 and 2 is scheduled for May 22 at 11 p.m. KST.
