- Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano confirmed that the documents were received by the Senate Secretariat.
Personnel from the Office of the Ombudsman went to the Senate to serve the preventive suspension order against Acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca and a subpoena for closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the May 13 shooting incident, Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said on Monday, May 18.
Clavano also confirmed that the documents were received by the Senate Secretariat.
“Ombudsman personnel were in Senate to attempt to serve the Order of Preventive Suspension of Acting SAA Aplasca as well as the subpoena for the CCTV footage,” he said.
“We got the confirmation that both were received by the Senate Secretariat,” he added.
The development follows earlier remarks by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, who said their process server had difficulty serving the subpoena at the Senate despite prior notice to Senate personnel.
He earlier said the subpoenas covered CCTV footage of the May 13 incident and documents related to Aplasca, who was placed under preventive suspension for six months without pay pending an Ombudsman investigation.
The suspension is part of its ongoing inquiry into the incident, as authorities seek surveillance footage and related records to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting inside the Senate premises.
