First, they conquered Coachella. On Monday, they conquered the hearts of House of Representatives members.

Pinoy pop sensation BINI visited the House of Representatives during plenary session on May 18 as copies of House Resolution (HR) No. 93 was given to them by the House leadership.

Originally HR No. 1001, the resolution expressed the 300-plus strong legislative chamber's sense in congratulating BINI for making history as the first Filipino pop group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026. The group performed on April 10 and 17, 2026 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

The resolution notes that BINI delivered a 45-minute set at the Mojave stage, debuted “Blush” from their EP “Signals” and performed hits such as “Pantropiko,” “Karera” and “Salamin, Salamin” before a global audience.

House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III and Majority Leader Sandro Marcos led the congressmen in honoring the all-girl act.

Rep. Marcos said the House recognition celebrates not only BINI’s international breakthrough, but also the growing global reach of Filipino talent and creativity.

“BINI’s Coachella moment belongs to every young Filipino who has ever dreamed of bringing our music, language and creativity to the global stage,” said the presidential son.

“Under President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s vision of a confident Filipino culture, and with Speaker Bojie Dy’s support for the creative industries, we are telling our artists that the country sees them, values them and believes in their place in the world,” Rep. Marcos said.

The resolution recognizes BINI, composed of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena, as the “Nation’s Girl Group” for their contribution to the P-pop movement and for helping shape a modern, globally competitive brand of Original Pilipino Music.

It states that P-pop, as a subgenre of OPM, strengthens the country’s cultural presence, promotes Filipino music internationally and expands the reach of the Philippine creative industries.

Before HR No. 93, HR No. 1001 was adopted in plenary last week in substitution of HR Nos. 930 and 934, which sought to honor the historic Coachella performances of BINI and, in one earlier resolution, Sophia Laforteza of the global girl group Katseye.

The resolution was introduced by Reps. Javier Miguel Benitez, Rachel Marguerite Del Mar, Ma. Nina Francesca Lacson, Charisse Anne Hernandez, Midy Cua, Laarni Mercado-Revilla, Rebecca Maria Alcantara Ynares, Ma. Georgina De Venecia, Ryan Recto, Juan Carlos “Arjo” Atayde, Richard Gomez DPA, Brian Poe, Sarah Jane Elago and Antonio Tinio.

The measure cites the constitutional mandate for the State to give priority to arts and culture, foster patriotism and nationalism and promote total human development.

It also invokes the duty of the State to preserve, enrich and support the dynamic evolution of Filipino national culture, especially as Filipino artists increasingly gain visibility in the global entertainment industry.

The resolution describes Coachella as one of the world’s most influential cultural events, featuring top global artists and drawing hundreds of thousands of attendees, industry leaders and international media attention.

BINI spent a few minutes on the plenary floor Monday snapping photos with the starstruck solons.

Rep. Marcos said the House recognition also carries a practical message for ordinary Filipinos, especially families who support children pursuing music, dance, production, content creation and other creative work often dismissed as uncertain or impractical.

“Para sa maraming kabataan (To a lot of the youth), BINI proves that creativity can be a path, a profession and a source of national pride,” Marcos emphasized.

“The creative economy is part of nation-building, because when Filipino talent succeeds, jobs are created, communities are inspired and our culture travels farther than any speech ever could,” Marcos said.

The resolution states that BINI’s success shows the rising global presence of Filipino artists and serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and creatives across the country.
