There was a time when moving to Cavite usually meant accepting the long commute that came with it.
People moved south because property was more affordable, but daily life often still revolved around Metro Manila. Work was in the city. Business districts were in the city. Even weekend routines usually meant driving back north.
That’s slowly changing
Over the last few years, places like General Trias have started feeling less distant than they used to. New roads have opened. For residents, these projects are already changing the way people move around the south. Commutes feel more manageable. Commercial centers are easier to access. Areas that once felt too far from the city are gradually becoming more viable for long-term living.
General Trias has also continued to grow commercially over the past several years.

Retail destinations such as SM City Rosario, SM City Tanza, and Robinsons Place General Trias continue to support the area’s growing residential communities, while nearby industrial zones, business hubs, and mixed-use developments continue to strengthen economic activity across Cavite’s southern corridor.
At the same time, younger buyers are also becoming more practical about what they actually want from a first home.
For many buyers today, the focus is simply finding a home that feels practical and realistic for everyday living. More people are also becoming open to emerging areas where property still feels relatively attainable, especially as infrastructure and commercial activity continue to grow.
That’s part of what makes places like General Trias increasingly attractive today.
The growth still feels ongoing. The area still feels like it’s unfolding.
