VP Sara's survey performance vs Raffy, Leni shows she has lost her 'aura'--solon

- - Rep. Terry Ridon says Pulse Asia's survey showing Vice President Sara Duterte tied with Sen. Raffy Tulfo and narrowly ahead of former VP Leni Robredo unmasked her "aura of invincibility".
- - Ridon believes the survey results emboldened lawmakers to impeach Duterte on May 13, with 257 affirmative votes representing 80 percent of the House.
- - The impeachment now moves to the Senate, where senators will act as judges to decide whether to convict Duterte, which would remove her from office and bar her from holding public office permanently.

Presidential aspirant and twice-impeached Vice President Sara Duterte has lost her "aura" as far as impeachment prosecutor Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon is concerned.
Ridon was pointing to the results of a Pulse Asia presidential preference survey that was carried out before the incumbent Vice President’s recent imeachment by the House of Representatives.
Ridon went as far to say that the poll results convinced many of his House colleagues to vote for the plenary adoption of the articles of impeachment and impeach Duterte last May 13.
“Tingin ko kahit po ‘yung survey na binabanggit ninyo kung saan in dead heat si Vice President Sara Duterte at si Senator Raffy Tulfo at malapit na malapit ang lamang on a head-to-head ni [former] Vice President Leni Lobredo at ni Vice President Sara Duterte, tingin ko po nag unmasked po yung aura ng supposed invincibility ng ating Pangalawang Pangulo,” Ridon said on May 16 during the Saturday News Forum at Dapo Restaurant in Quezon City
(I think even the survey you mentioned, where Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Raffy Tulfo are in a dead heat and where Vice President Leni Robredo is very close in a head-to-head with [former] Vice President Sara Duterte, I believe it has unmasked the aura of supposed invincibility of our Vice President.)
“Tingin ko nakapag-ambag po ito don po sa dagdag tapang ng ating pong mga kinatawan na manindigan po ng araw na ito at i-impeach po si Vice President Sara Duterte,” said Ridon, a member of the House Committee on Justice that held a series of hearings on the verified impeachment complaints against the second highest official of the land.
(I think this has contributed to the added courage of our representatives to take a stand today and impeach Vice President Sara Duterte.)
During plenary session last May 13, the congressmen overwhelmingly decided to impeach Duterte for the second time in two years via nominal vote result of 257-25-9 (yes-no-abstain).
Ridon said that the 257 affirmative votes represented a whopping 80 percent of the lower chamber.
Before the vote, Pulse Asia released its survey results that showed Duterte and Tulfo with 46 percent voters' preference each--a clear ite.
The same survey showed incumbent Naga City Mayor Rodredo (43 percent) within striking distance of Duterte (51 percent) should the two figure in a one-to-one Palace race in 2028.
The survey was conducted from Feb. 27 to March 2. Duterte, it can be recalled, announced her plan to run for the Palace seat on Feb. 18.
The four verified impeachment complaints filed against the Vice President this year were initiated by the House of Representatives five days later.
The next step in the impeachment process is the Senate impeachment trial, where senators will take on the role of "judges" and decide whether or not to convict Duterte.
A conviction will lead to Duterte’s removal as Vice President and her perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
